      This exhibition consisting of artifacts unearthed during Marmaray excavations in Yenikapı, Sirkeci and Üsküdar, Metro excavations and Sultanahmet's old prison area excavations carried out under the leadership of the Directorate of the İstanbul Archaeological Museums shed light on the history of İstanbul from prehistoric periods to the Ottoman Period.

      The exhibition was held between June 25, 2007 and June 30, 2010, in the Assos Hall, İstanbul Archaeological Museums.

    29. The Tombstone With Quadrilingual Inscription, The Symbol Of Tolerance And Coexistence, Is In The Istanbul Archaeological Museums

      The renowned tombstone displayed in the one piece exhibition organized by the İstanbul Archaeological Museums in cooperation with the Italian Consulate and the Italian Cultural Center belongs to a five-piece group, two of which are lost, which make the tombs of Anne and Drogo, parents of Grisanthe, clerk to the Norman king Roger II, distinguished. The inscription describes in four languages (Judeo-Arabic on the upper, Latin on the left, Greek on the right and Arabic on the lower sides) Anne's death, her first burial in the Palerma Cathedral in 1148, and her corpse's transfer to the funerary chapel in the Church of S. Michele Arcangelo built by his son in the following year. This tombstone, which is a witness of the multiculturalism in the Norman Palermo, has become a symbol of tolerance among the peoples and coexistence with its quadrilingual inscription, dates in calendars followed by each of the communities and with its final section asking for the mercy of its readers.

      The artifact was exhibited between August 4 and September 6, 2010, in the İstanbul's Neighboring Cultures section of the Old Building.

      The statue "Discus Thrower" (Townley Discobolus), one of the most renowned articles in the collection of the British Museum, was brought under the sponsorship of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB).

      Besides figuring the ideal beauty, the Townley Discobolus is the embodiment of the idea of an eternally young athlete's balance, harmony and ideal proportions. The Discus Thrower was displayed between February 16 and April 5, 2010, in the Old Building, İstanbul Archaeological Museums.

      The exhibition "Artemision of Ephesus: Sacred Site of a Goddess" was jointly organized by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, İstanbul Archaeological Museums and the Ephesus Museum. The Temple of Artemis of Ephesus, a reflection and continuation of a very old Anatolian form of belief in the Archaic Aegean Region, is identified as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This exhibition brought for the first time the artifacts of Artemision in the collections of the Ephesus Museum and the İstanbul Archaeological Museums together, although partially.

      The exhibition was held between May 22 and September 22, 2008, in the İstanbul Archaeological Museums.

      The exhibition called "The Stolen Past" organized on the occasion of the Museums Week consisted of artifacts seized between 1970 and 2003 by the financial police, military police or customs directorates and delivered to our Museum, which had been illegally taken from their original sites in order to be sold in foreign countries or to be smuggled into them. The exhibition was held between May 18 and July 20, 2003.

    49. Istanbul Archaeological Museums Palatium Magnum (Great Palace) Region Excavation Finds Exhibition

      The İstanbul Archaeological Museums Great Palace (Palatium Magnum) Region Excavation Finds displayed in the İstanbul Archaeological Museums included lighting equipment; sacred objects; Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman bronze, silver and gold coins and seals; ornaments and dress accessories made of different materials and Byzantine pottery produced employing various techniques, Ottoman vessels and Chinese and European porcelains covering a period between the 5th century BC and the Republican Era, unearthed during excavations carried out between 1997 and 2001. Additionally, pieces of Greek pottery dated to the 7th-4th centuries BC and Roman and Late Roman perfume bottles, pottery and pieces of figurines were displayed.

      The exhibition was held between May 21 and July 21, 2002, in the İstanbul Archaeological Museums.
